GPO Director Contributes to the AI Conversation at Senate Hearing
The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) announced the following:Director Hugh Nathanial Halpern on January 24, 2024 testified before the United States Senate Committee on Rules and Administration about the use of artificial intelligence (AI) at the Agency. The Director outlined GPO’s vision for the role of AI at the Agency and described several ways the Agency already uses AI to improve productivity. The Director hopes to use AI to perform repetitive basic tasks, freeing up teammates to focus on more complex issues and making roles more enticing to young talent. … GPO’s AI Governance Committee is currently under development as is an overall AI Strategy for the Agency, which will be complete in the next few months. TLC Integrates TeachingBooks Content Into Its Catalog for Schools
TeachingBooks and The Library Corporation (TLC) have “collaborated to provide one-click access to a collection of book-specific resources designed to enrich the reading experience, directly from the school library catalog. Springshare Integrates Third Iron's Browser Extension With LibChat

Apple Lays Out Its Plan to Comply With the European Union's Digital Markets Act
Apple shared the following:Apple … announced changes to iOS, Safari, and the App Store impacting developers’ apps in the European Union (EU) to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The changes include more than 600 new APIs, expanded app analytics, functionality for alternative browser engines, and options for processing app payments and distributing iOS apps. Clarivate's New Web of Science Grants Index Helps Researchers With Funding Strategies

BMJ Adds OA Journals to ResearchGate
BMJ and ResearchGate partnered to “make six BMJ OA journals available on the ResearchGate platform. This collaboration will provide wider reach and visibility to researchers, starting January 2024, and enhance accessibility to valuable healthcare knowledge.” The journals are BMJ Global Health, BMJ Medicine, BMJ Neurology Open, BMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care, BMJ Open Ophthalmology, and The Journal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer. Each journal will have a dedicated profile on ResearchGate, and authors publishing in these journals will have their articles automatically integrated into their personal ResearchGate profiles, giving them access to stats on readership and citations.For more information, read the press release.
