dtSearch Corp. Releases Android Beta for Its dtSearch Engine
dtSearch Corp. announced the beta release of dtSearch Engine for Android. This update to its product line will make dtSearch’s instant searching and document filters available for a wide range of internet, intranet, and other commercial applications on Android devices. dtSearch Engine also has SDKs (software development kits) for Linux (native 64-bit/32-bit C++ and Java APIs), as well as for Windows and .NET (native 64-bit/32-bit C++, Java, and .NET APIs).Using the developer APIs, dtSearch products can search and extract content from full text and metadata in data types such as web-ready static and dynamic content, Office formats, and emails and attachments. Lexis Advance Upgrades Go Live
LexisNexis launched a new, intuitive user interface (UI) for Lexis Advance, its online legal research solution. The update also includes feature and functionality enhancements designed to provide users with a more efficient and personalized research experience. It offers a streamlined workflow throughout the research process and responsive design.Lexis Advance’s UI retains its popular features and functionality, but the presentation of content and resources is clean and accessible. Users can now view available resources without clicking on multiple screens and easily employ insights and support tools. Dataset Provides Organizational Metadata for Publishers
DataSalon introduced OrgRef, a free, open dataset that extracts structured information about academic and research organizations from open resources such as Wikipedia. Anyone can download and use the dataset under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported license. For instance, publishers can use it to standardize their own customer data or to identify new sales prospects.DataSalon manages and maintains OrgRef for the publishing community and provides commercial services for matching, connecting, and analyzing OrgRef with publishers’ own customer data. OrgRef’s goal is to share metadata about the most important academic and research organizations around the world, including their names, countries, and URLs. APO Debuts Social Media Analysis Reporting for African Press Releases
APO (African Press Organization) introduced a full social media analysis reporting service for press releases in Africa. It is complimentary for APO’s clients so they can measure the social media response to their press releases, including social media volume, geographic locations, and major influencers. Monitored sources include Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Google+, Flickr, and more than 3 million RSS feeds.The reports also provide data on the reach and spread of potential primary and secondary audiences of social media posts, geographical visualizations of Africa’s demographic conversations about press releases, and information such as the degree to which press releases influence the intended audiences based on a Klout Score. Deep Web Technologies Enhances Search Solution
Deep Web Technologies (DWT) expanded its Explorit Everywhere! multisource search solution to help researchers find the most relevant content from hundreds of information sources, which can all be searched simultaneously. Explorit Everywhere! allows for full-text searching of ebooks and ejournals and makes ebooks available as soon as they are added to a publisher’s website. Users can set up alerts to monitor topics and export their search results to a reference manager.DWT worked with library staff members to organize the searchable databases into subject categories and subcategories and to organize search results into tabs displayed by document types such as primary research, datasets, articles, and ebooks. Innovative Announces New and Updated Polaris Services
Innovative’s Polaris Leap and Polaris ILS 5.0 are now available for beta testing, with an official launch scheduled for October. Baltimore County Public Library (BCPL) in Maryland and the Central Library Consortium (CLC) in Ohio will serve as beta testers and provide feedback. They will be joined by additional libraries in 2 to 3 weeks.Polaris Leap, the new web client for the Polaris ILS, performs public services workflows, including new patron registration and item checkout. Additionally, it features responsive design. CCC and Ringgold Partner to Streamline OA Charges Processing
Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) integrated Ringgold’s Identify database into its RightsLink for Open Access in order to host and execute institution-specific pricing rules. Using Ringgold’s identifiers in CCC’s platform simplifies the collection, management, and reporting of publication charges for open access (OA) journals. The partnership allows institutions to calculate author charges according to pre-negotiated deals and access reporting that reflects consistent data.“Our Identify database provides RightsLink for Open Access with unique identifiers, and core metadata about institutions from all over the world,” says Jay G.
