China Connect From BCMS International, BvD Identifies Acquisition Opportunities

China Connect includes current information on a company’s business scope, where it is permitted to expand, the likelihood of an investment opportunity being open to foreign investors, and if such an investment is likely to be acceptable to the country’s regulatory authorities. It also includes information on the companies, such as the number of employees; listed patents and IP rights; quality standards; and products and services where these have been disclosed.

BvD’s (Bureau van Dijk’s) Zephyr software means users can search for, and analyze, both the historical deals and current opportunities.

Wiley Launches New Program of Open Access Journals

The new journals are being launched in collaboration with a group of international professional and scholarly societies with which Wiley currently partners. Each journal will appoint an editor-in-chief and editorial board that will be responsible for ensuring that all articles are rigorously peer-reviewed, and each journal will be offered with the full functionality of Wiley Online Library.

 
Wiley Open Access journals will be published under the Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial License, which permits use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited and is not used for commercial purposes. A publication fee will be payable by authors on acceptance of their articles. Wiley will introduce a range of new payment schemes to enable academic and research institutions, funders, societies, and corporations to actively support their researchers and members who wish to publish in Wiley Open Access journals.

Ebooks From Springer Archived by CLOCKSS

A not-for-profit joint venture between the scholarly publishers and research libraries, CLOCKSS’s mission is to build a sustainable, geographically distributed dark archive for the benefit of the greater global research community.

“All eBooks available in our eBook packages will be preserved in the CLOCKSS archive,” says Heather Ruland Staines, senior manager of e-operations. Staines oversees Springer’s participation in digital preservation initiatives. “Because our eBook collections are offered in an ownership model, we feel a particular responsibility to ensuring their availability in perpetuity.”

Springer Science+Business Media is a global scientific publisher, publishing about 2,000 journals and more than 6,500 new books a year.

ARTstor Images Discoverable Through Serials Solutions’ Summon Service

ARTstor Digital Library’s collections include contributions from museums, individual photographers, scholars, libraries, artists, artists’ estates, and photo archives. With the integration of ARTstor’s data in the Summon service index, users from all disciplines will soon be able to discover a more comprehensive wealth of visual materials they may not have even known existed within their library’s collections.

“The Summon service acts as the digital front door to the vast information available in the library, which allows students to find and access all the relevant material in the library’s collection simply and easily,” said Michael Gersch, senior vice president and general manager of Serials Solutions. “By including the fast and easy discovery of the full breadth of ARTstor’s visual materials, we are continuing to ensure researchers have access to the most comprehensive search functionality available on the market today.”

Currently, the Summon service allows researchers to quickly and easily search content from more than 6,800 providers with more than 600 million records. Summon serves more than 200 libraries worldwide that subscribe to the service.

ARTstor, an independent nonprofit organization, makes the 1.2 million images in its Digital Library available internationally with 1,300-plus institutions in 42 countries.
