ingenta Announces 348-Percent Increase in Gross Profits

The company's revenue increased by 294 percent to $6.7 million and gross profits were up 348 percent to $5 million."The company continues to demonstrate that it can deliver growth that is both rapid and sustainable, supporting management's view that the $6 billion industry in which it operates is unaffected by prospects of a global slowdown," said Martyn Rose, chairman of ingenta. "Management has continued to build on its market-leading position in both the U.K. and the U.S. following the acquisition of CatchWord, and is firmly on course to continue its significant growth rate. With the company's cost base now established, further growth in sales is set to feed through rapidly into profits, on schedule late this year." Gale Group Acquires Rights to British Medical Association Journals
Gale Group (http://www.galegroup.com) has acquired online rights to periodicals published by the British Medical Association, significantly expanding health content in Gale databases."This is a very important partnership because of the high-quality health content this brings to our databases," said Allen Paschal, Gale Group's CEO. "While we continue to aggressively expand the volume of periodicals in our databases, our first priority is to add only those that are in sync with Gale's high standards for information integrity. The British Medical Association is a great example of reliable, pure, and timely information." According to the announcement, the British Medical Association is one of the world's most prestigious medical publishers. Gale will provide online access to such titles as Heart, British Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Medical Genetics, Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and more than 20 others. Since January 2000, Gale Group has added approximately 700 new newspapers and magazines to its stable of periodicals. More than 6,500 periodicals are now available through its products. ebrary Announces Company News
ebrary (http://www.ebrary.com) has announced that Adobe chairman and co-founder John Warnock has joined its board of directors. According to the company, Warnock, who recently retired as Adobe's CEO, will provide ebrary with strategic direction as it continues to expand its e-content business. ebrary has also announced that Kevin Cronin has joined the company as vice president of sales. According to the company, ebrarian lets publishers, Internet portals, academic institutions, libraries, e-learning companies, large corporations, and other organizations provide high-value, focused content to attract and retain customers, increase sales, and make their Web site properties more valuable to advertisers. ebrary's channel partner strategy also benefits publishers and other content providers by opening additional channels to increase online access and sales. The company also announced that it is expanding its business beyond the ebrary.com online library to make its content available through channel partners, search engines, and other Web sites via its open-access model. This model enables search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, Excite, and other sites with search capabilities to freely index content. In addition, any site can provide links directly to high-value documents.
