The Ford Foundation Continues to Back the World Wide Web Consortium
The Ford Foundation is continuing its support for the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C); it renewed “a grant focused on the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). The $1,050,000 USD grant will provide funding over a three-year period beginning August 1, 2026, continuing the work funded under a grant that started in 2024,” according to the press release. WAI “develops strategies, standards, and supporting resources to help make the web accessible to people with a diverse range of cognitive, hearing, movement, sight, and speech ability, thus enabling everyone to participate equally on the web.”For more information, read the press release.
Wiley Signs an OA Agreement With the Big Ten Academic Alliance
Wiley signed an agreement with the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) to allow researchers at participating institutions to publish OA articles in Wiley’s journals. It is effective through Dec. 31, 2027.“The agreement covers corresponding authors at 16 flagship BTAA universities and 19 affiliated campuses spanning 11 U.S. states. The agreement provides full read access to Wiley’s entire journal portfolio across all participating campuses, while enabling eligible authors to publish open access in Wiley’s hybrid journals for articles accepted through 2027,” the press release shares. ALA Publishes Guide to Creating Generative AI Policies in Public and Academic Libraries
ALA Editions published “Creating Generative AI Policies: A Guide for Public and Academic Libraries,” a new Special Report that “highlights the first attempts of libraries across the country to set up policies for the use of AI in their organizations, as well as policies created by cities and other similar institutions, to guide stakeholders in creating their own smart, forward-thinking course of action.” The report offers an overview of generative AI, provides advice on using AI in day-to-day library work, gives examples of both staff policies and patron-facing policies, links to additional resources, and more. Clarivate Moves to Divest Its Life Sciences & Healthcare Segment
Clarivate “entered into a definitive agreement to divest its Life Sciences & Healthcare … segment to Altaris LLC, an investment firm with an exclusive focus on acquiring and building companies in the healthcare industry, for $600 million.” This leaves the company with its Academia & Government and Intellectual Property segments. “With this sharpened focus, Clarivate will drive sustained value through differentiated insights, workflow solutions and tech-enabled services at scale,” the press release shares. EBSCO Shares Its 2026 Solar Grant Winners
EBSCO Information Services unveiled the recipients of the 2026 EBSCO Solar Grant program. “The annual initiative supports libraries and educational institutions pursuing solar energy projects that reduce environmental impact, lower operating costs, and create new opportunities for sustainability education and community engagement,” the press release states.This year’s recipients are Black River Falls Public Library in Wisconsin, Cornwall Public Library in New York, Newburgh Chandler Public Library in Indiana, Lupane State University in Zimbabwe, and the Dr. Karen Guinee Library at the University of Galway in Ireland. Dimensions Research Strategy Leverages AI Analytics to Enhance Research Intelligence

Book Riot Provides Primer on Fighting for E-Rate
Kelly Jensen writes the following in “Get Loud: Public Library and School Internet Access Is Under Threat” for Book Riot:As more and more services are only accessible online, the e-Rate program has been especially vital in keeping folks connected, especially in small and rural areas. … [T]he same lies about schools and libraries promoting ‘inappropriate’ materials are those behind the e-Rate cut proposition—if and where the right can step in and remove access to information and to facts to the public (and especially children!), the more they believe they’ll be able to control the future of the authoritarian regime. … The FCC will soon seek public feedback on the future of eRates. EBSCO Information Services Backs Bodleian Libraries Digital Humanities Fellowship
EBSCO Information Services is supporting the EBSCO Fellowship in Digital Humanities, North America, which is offered through the Bodleian Libraries at the University of Oxford. This fellowship aids digital humanities scholars in pursuing “innovative, independent research while engaging with Oxford’s world-renowned collections and expertise.” “Fellowships are essential to fostering the next generation of scholars and advancing meaningful research,” says Megan Gooch, head of the University of Oxford’s Centre for Digital Scholarship. “By supporting opportunities that provide researchers with dedicated time, institutional connections, and access to world-class resources, we help create conditions where new ideas can flourish and important discoveries can emerge.” For more information, read the press release.
AIP Publishing Signs an OA Agreement With Jisc
AIP Publishing and Jisc signed a new, 3-year AIP Fusion agreement to expand OA publishing for U.K. researchers and give the 29 participating institutions streamlined access to AIP Publishing content.“By partnering directly with universities and research organizations, Jisc’s licensing services expand access to scholarly content, accelerate open research, and ensure institutions maximize the impact of their academic investments,” the press release shares. “The new agreement further adds to AIP Publishing’s growing network of transformative partnerships worldwide, covering 384 institutions and consortia spanning 24 countries. Researchers at participating institutions benefit from increased opportunities to share their discoveries openly, fostering greater collaboration and innovation across the physical sciences and related disciplines.” For more information, read the press release.
