Lyrasis Catalyst Fund Winners Announced for 2026
Lyrasis named five Catalyst Fund recipients for 2026. “The Lyrasis Catalyst Fund is an award program that provides support for new ideas and innovative projects from the Lyrasis membership. Through the Lyrasis Catalyst Fund, now in its tenth year, Lyrasis has directly invested more than $1,000,000 in its members to support and promote projects with the potential for community-wide impact,” Lyrasis states.For more information and the list of winners, read the news item.
ABA Law Library Collection Comes to HeinOnline
HeinOnline introduced the ABA Law Library Collection: Books & Practice Materials Archive, “a new database that fully digitizes and preserves decades of American Bar Association [ABA] books, practice materials, and professional resources.” It comprises more than 5,700 titles “spanning major areas of legal practice, including business law, litigation, criminal justice, administrative law, family law, labor and employment law, intellectual property, taxation, and thousands of additional subjects and ABA sections.” More ABA materials are being digitized; the archive is expected to have nearly 9,000 titles when it’s complete in November 2026. The press release continues, “For the first time, thousands of ABA publications previously available only in print or microfiche are fully searchable within HeinOnline. The collection documents more than 150 years of legal practice, professional development, and organizational history across the American legal profession.” For more information, read the press release.
NoveList Creates New Framework for Readers' Advisory Skills
NoveList rolled out Readers’ Advisory Competencies, “a new framework designed to help libraries define, develop and advance readers’ advisory skills across their organizations.” It is organized around eight interconnected competency areas: advisory philosophy and strategy, story and media knowledge, collection awareness and insight, fostering reading culture, relational advisory, promotional advisory, tools and trends, and collaboration across teams and organizations.The press release shares, “Developed in collaboration with library professionals from public libraries across the United States and Canada, … [t]he flexible framework recognizes that helping patrons discover books and other materials is a responsibility shared across the library and can be adapted to meet the needs of different communities, roles and organizational structures.” For more information, read the press release.
Kanopy Celebrates America's 250th Birthday With Curated Films and Series
OverDrive posted some titles to watch on Kanopy as part of the America250 celebrations, along with programming suggestions. “Kanopy’s American History collection brings the story of the United States to life through compelling films, documentaries, and series spanning the full arc of American history: the founding ideals and the failures to live up to them, the voices that shaped the nation and the ones that were silenced, the triumphs and the questions still unresolved,” the blog post states. “From pivotal moments and cultural movements to personal stories that reflect the country’s evolving identity, there’s something here for every patron.
