ByWater Solutions Teams With Open Fifth to Give Libraries More Management Control of Koha
ByWater Solutions announced that it has “partnered with Open Fifth to simplify SIP Administration to Koha Community Users. This feature includes a new SIP2 module that allows staff users with SIP2 permission to manage SIP2 institutions, accounts, and system preference overrides directly in Koha Administration.”“Now libraries who want to can manage these connections internally and not have to wait for any outside help to adjust these configurations. Wiley Adds New Journals to Its Advanced Portfolio
Wiley is expanding its Advanced Portfolio into the “life, health, and social sciences disciplines, with plans to launch eight new journals by the end of 2026 and more to follow over the next several years.” The company continues, “This expansion of the Advanced Portfolio—a collection of scientific journals currently encompassing more than 25 high-impact titles—is designed to empower scientists, making publishing easier for researchers through a streamlined, collaborative approach. Ithaka S+R Studies How Higher Education Accreditation Affects Student Outcomes
Cameron Childress and Elizabeth Davidson Pisacreta write the following for Ithaka S+R: Accreditation is a central feature of higher education quality assurance in the United States, but historically much of the process has operated out of public view and within a statutory framework that has not changed much in recent years. … At the same time, the policy environment surrounding accreditation is in a period of significant change. While there has been no federal legislative change, there is substantial federal activity aimed at changing the accreditation landscape. … Against this backdrop of heightened scrutiny and structural change, Ithaka S+R is pleased to release four reports, funded by Arnold Ventures, that examine the extent to which accreditor standards and interventions influence institutional performance, particularly as reflected in students’ outcomes. These reports provide concrete examples of how accreditors articulate expectations in their written standards, use data in monitoring institutions, communicate performance concerns through Commission Action Letters, and understand their responsibilities in the federal recognition process. I often find that they’re taking a leadership role in their schools, especially when it comes to technology.
