GetFTR Leverages AI to Verify Content Entitlements Before Full-Text Delivery

GetFTR “launched a new capability that allows AI-powered research tools and agents to check content entitlements in real time and generate ‘smart links’ to send users to authoritative full text,” the organization reports. “The new capability uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open emerging standard that enables AI tools to securely connect to trusted external services. Through GetFTR’s MCP server, AI applications can now ask a simple question in real time: does this user have access to this content?—and route them accordingly.”

Springer Nature, Figshare, and Digital Science Unveil the New State of Open Data Report

“The 10th anniversary edition of the State of Open Data report, published by Digital Science, Figshare and Springer Nature, shows that open data has become strongly embedded into research practice with FAIR awareness now widely recognised, AI is reshaping research workflows, and support for openness remains high,” Springer Nature shares. “The report, now in its 10th year, is the longest running study into open research behaviour and attitudes. Combining survey data from more than 4,700 responses across 151 countries with global expert perspectives from researchers, librarians and policy leaders, it provides an unprecedented insight into the challenges and opportunities around open research, helping to outline progress and priorities for the next decade.”

Sage Policy Profiles Adds Ability to Connect Researchers With Policy Opportunities

Sage introduced a new feature to Sage Policy Profiles, its “free, browser-based policy impact tool,” which “matches researchers with tailored policy engagement opportunities based on their research, biography, and countries of interest.” This allows researchers to “see not only where their work has already influenced policy, but also where they can contribute next.”

Sage continues, “The personalized dashboard shows researchers exactly where their work is cited in policy documents and makes it easy for them to export policy mentions, visualize the data, and share results with their networks.” The new feature is powered by Overton Engage and draws from more than 4,000 policy opportunities across more than 130 global sources. Each user gets up to three personalized matches per month.

Clarivate Nexus Allows Users to Connect With Library Content in AI Tools

Clarivate rolled out an early access option for Clarivate Nexus, “the first academic assistant designed to reconnect students and researchers with library content and services directly in the AI tools they use. Its development represents the next step in the Clarivate Academic AI portfolio, extending Clarivate gold-standard intelligence across the AI ecosystem.” Clarivate Nexus has the following core capabilities:
  • [P]rovides a unified entry point to library resources across collections and products, based on their entitlements
  • Identifies scholarly references and academic context within AI-generated responses and web environments, and provides easy access to library-curated content
  • Verifies academic references in AI outputs and enables users to cite them with confidence
  • Suggests relevant scholarly literature based on the user’s research context and institutional sources
  • Surfaces library services and information, such as research guides, expert support and opening hours, as well as other information deemed relevant by the library

Elsevier Creates a Research-Grade AI Workspace Called LeapSpace

Elsevier introduced LeapSpace, its “research-grade, AI-assisted workspace” that is “[b]uilt on the world’s most comprehensive collection of scientific content,” the company notes. “LeapSpace places researchers in control, delivering full context and transparency for every result while displaying, in real time, the steps used to generate each answer—enabling continuous human validation. All insights are referenced and can be traced back to their original sources, providing provenance. Innovative ‘Trust Cards’ explain why sources were cited and highlight contradictions, helping researchers calibrate the strength of the evidence with confidence.”
