MEDLINE to Include TheScientificWorldJOURNAL
TheScientificWorld, Inc. (http://www.thescientificworld.com) has announced that content published in TheScientificWorldJOURNAL, its international peer-reviewed and multidisciplinary online publication for the life sciences and environmental sciences, will be abstracted and indexed by MEDLINE, the principal online bibliographic citation database of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) at the National Institutes of Health. The director of the NLM made the decision after a full review by the Literature Selection Technical Review Committee, an advisory group that includes physicians, researchers, educators, editors, and health science librarians. In addition to inclusion in MEDLINE, content in TheScientificWorldJOURNAL will be covered by NLM's Index Medicus, the print version of the database.According to the announcement, the scientific merit of TheScientificWorldJOURNAL's content was the primary consideration in its selection. However, all aspects of its editorial structure, quality of production work, content types, audience, accessibility to researchers and librarians worldwide, and geographic coverage were assessed in making the selection. MEDLINE will cover articles from the current and subsequent volumes of TheScientificWorldJOURNAL, as well as those published in 2001 (Volume 1). Further information about MEDLINE and access through the PubMed system are available at http://www.nlm.nih.gov. TheScientificWorldJOURNAL abstracts are also currently indexed by other major abstracting services, including Aquatic Sciences & Fisheries Abstracts, Biological Abstracts and BIOSIS Previews, CAB Abstracts, Chemical Abstracts, and e-psyche. Access to articles within TheScientificWorldJOURNAL is offered through institutional sitewide licenses, with full trials available on request. According to the announcement, TheScientificWorldJOURNAL fosters multidisciplinary exchange and innovation in online scientific publishing. To date, more than 600 distinguished scientists have joined the Editorial Network of TheScientificWorldJOURNAL. To ensure coherency, all articles are integrated with the world's published scientific literature through dynamic linking of their cited references to corresponding records in sciBASE, a database containing more than 30 million records of scientific documents published since 1965. Authors of articles published in TheScientificWorldJOURNAL retain copyright to their work. The articles published in TheScientificWorldJOURNAL are permanently archived by TheScientificWorld, Inc. and will be offered to public online libraries and other organizations for their permanent archiving.
