hoopla Digital Unveils 10 BingePasses for Kid-Friendly Ebooks

hoopla Digital launched “10 new BingePasses focused on children’s content. … [They] include beloved HarperCollins titles like The Berenstain Bears and Fiona the Hippo, providing families with instant access to curated bundles of kid-friendly eBooks from iconic children’s brands and STEAM-focused collections. The new offerings also include more learning-focused content from Lerner Publishing, such as Social Studies for Kids and Science Squad, and expand on Hoopla’s 25 existing BingePass offerings for kids that span videos, games, audiobooks and more from notable names like PBS KIDS, The Highlights Collection, Pokémon and Smile and Learn.”

CCC Plans a Free Town Hall on AI and Copyright for Sept. 16

CCC “will host a free virtual town hall, AI & Copyright: Recent Litigation Themes, via LinkedIn Live on Tuesday, 16 September, 10:00 am ET/4:00 pm CET. The event is designed to meet the informational needs of professionals in publishing, AI technology, and business, featuring an examination of the types of claims and the defenses being raised, how courts are viewing issues like market harm, data sources, and guardrails, and the evolving legal theories around transformative use.”

Pearson AI Literacy Modules Will Teach Real-World AI Applications

Pearson is introducing “AI Literacy Modules, a set of assignable learning experiences designed to equip students with the skills to understand, use, and evaluate AI ethically and effectively. … Launching this fall, the three AI Literacy Modules will be available in more than 170 MyLab and Mastering courses in STEM, business, the health professions, and the humanities. Each module is short, student-friendly, and aligned with real-world applications, covering topics such as validating AI-generated results and appropriately citing AI tool outputs. The modules will be available in the United States and a selection of titles globally.”

Clarivate Rolls Out Research Commons on the Web of Science Platform

Clarivate is “launching Research Commons on the Web of Science platform, a separate, comprehensive collection of journal output from open metadata sources.” It is searchable alongside the Core Collection in All Databases and provides the following:
  • Expanded content: More than 32 million documents published in journals in the last 10 years sourced from open platforms, starting with Crossref and OpenAlex at launch—increasing the amount of journal content discoverable on the platform by 21%
  • Global and disciplinary breadth: 53% of content is from researchers in the Global South, and 43% is in the social sciences, arts and humanities
  • More open access content: 39% of content is published via open access models
