Elsevier and Vanderbilt University Sign 5-Year Transformative OA Agreement
Elsevier entered into a landmark 5-year, transformative open access agreement with Vanderbilt University’s Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries. This read-and-publish agreement is effective through 2028. Vanderbilt researchers get access to content from Elsevier’s portfolio of journals, and they can publish OA in them.“This exciting new partnership with Elsevier strengthens our libraries’ commitment to improve information access at Vanderbilt and promote collaborative scholarship across our community. The agreement not only encompasses access to Elsevier’s leading peer-reviewed journals but also expands our scholars’ publishing impact by extending the reach of their research,” says Jon Shaw, university librarian. New CCC Podcast Episode Looks at the Preservation of Ukrainian Culture Since the Russian Invasion
Velocity of Content, CCC’s podcast hosted by Christopher Kenneally, recently put out an interview with Iryna Baturevych, the co-founder of Chytomo, a Ukrainian publishing news platform. Baturevych talked about how the Russian invasion—2 years ago this month—targeted Ukrainian culture and media, the importance of Chytomo’s documentation of the resistance by the country’s authors and publishers to preserve Ukrainian culture, and the invasion’s impact on the Ukrainian publishing community.

HeinOnline Adds Liking and Commenting Feature for Articles
HeinOnline rolled out a new feature: liking and commenting on scholarly works. “Powered by MyHein, researchers can like and comment on articles within HeinOnline, enhancing the overall research experience and fostering a sense of community within the academic realm,” the blog post notes. “When searching across any journal or article in HeinOnline, you will see a Like icon on the search results page next to the print/download options by the ScholarCheck metrics.” The Comment icon is directly next to the Like icon. “This also provides the ability to see any comments that other HeinOnline users have left on an article.”For more information, read the blog post.
