Techstreet Adds Licensed Content Through New Partnerships
Techstreet, Clarivate Analytics’ suite of tools for enterprise standards management, is providing 13 new partnerships with Standard Developing Organizations (SDOs) and private label stores. According to the press release, “Techstreet’s expanded licensed content assists in placing them as a key player among other products in the standards aggregator marketplace, illustrating its own growth and trajectory.”“Over the years Techstreet has built an amazing amount of trusted partners,” says Todd Fegan, VP of Techstreet operations at Clarivate Analytics. “By offering our customers superior e-commerce and subscription platforms, as well as cultivating great relationships with SDOs, we provide a great solution for both our customers and publisher partners.” For more information, read the press release.
The Department of the Treasury Updates Government Spending Site
The Department of the Treasury introduced Beta.USAspending.gov, a new beta version of the site that tracks how the federal government spends tax dollars. It now links spending data to awards distributed by the government. Users can search the site by location, federal agency, or keyword (for a specific program or spending type), as well as by a specific recipient of federal funds. The site’s data will be updated quarterly starting from May 2017.For more information, read the press release.
IMLS Gets Budget Assurance Through September 2017
The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) announced that the president signed a $1.1 trillion spending bill that funds the federal government through the end of September 2017 and includes $231 million for IMLS ($1 million more than it received in FY2016). IMLS programs that get increases in funding are Grants to States, National Leadership Grants for Libraries, and National Leadership Grants for Museums.For more information, read the press release.
Ex Libris Group Helps Libraries Transition to BIBFRAME
Ex Libris Group is carrying out its BIBFRAME road map, which will allow institutions to gradually implement BIBFRAME without much disruption to their workflows. The first step is a MARC-to-BIBFRAME transformation—including the publication of sets in BIBFRAME format and support for BIBFRAME uniform resource identifiers (URIs)—followed by providing new technical services in native BIBFRAME.For more information, read the press release.
Digital Science Report Studies Climate Change Research
Digital Science released “The Landscape of Climate Research Funding,” a report on the growth and content of climate research investment. Its findings include the following:- Funding towards climate research has grown since 2003 and forms around 1.7% of total research grants. …
- Climate change research has shifted from the understanding of global systems research towards impacts and responses—studies around adapting to and mitigating climate change.
- U.S. historically leads in climate change funding, while the E.U. has significantly increased funding in recent years.

ProQuest Makes Managing Grant Applications Easier
ProQuest integrated the functionality of Pivot into the InfoReady Review platform to help research administrators improve the accuracy of grant application management by creating a seamless workflow—from finding funding opportunities to selecting candidates. According to the press release, “Now, data from Pivot will automatically populate in InfoReady Review, which will post the opportunities, route applications for review, and ultimately enable users to select their most eligible grant candidates.”For more information, read the press release.
Accessible Archives Expands Women's Suffrage Coverage
Accessible Archives, Inc. enhanced its collection of women’s suffrage news with sources from the American West. The New Citizen focused on newly enfranchised women in Washington state, and Western Woman Voter served all women voters in the western U.S. Additionally, for a conflicting viewpoint, Accessible Archives added The Remonstrance, the official publication of the Massachusetts Association Opposed to the Further Extension of Suffrage to Women from 1890 to 1913.For more information, read the blog post.
The EDM Council and Schema.org Improve Financial Searches
The Enterprise Data Management (EDM) Council partnered with Schema.org to change the way financial concepts are linked, allowing search engines to deliver more relevant and accurate results. Banks and financial technology companies can now associate their products and services with subject definitions as well as keywords, meaning that a search for “mortgage” will now show results with related concepts, such as lending rates and repayment terms.According to the press release, “Starting with retail banking, credit cards, investment products and mortgage lending, the EDM Council will provide Schema.org with its FIBO (Financial Industry Business Ontology) content, which precisely defines financial concepts and creates a shared global financial language, allowing website administrators to easily tag their content to generate far more intelligent search results.” For more information, read the press release.
DISYS Facilitates Increased Productivity
Digital Intelligence Systems, LLC (DISYS) rolled out what it calls The DISYS Catalog of Project Accelerators: new tools, methodologies, frameworks, processes, and implementations for enhancing productivity, including completion of engagements, streamlined project management, and company-client transparency.The catalog also features a full-service Automation Center of Excellence. “Many organizations, large and small, are looking to RPA [robotics process automation] to streamline processes, cut down on human error and improve the bottom line,” says Ahmar Abbas, DISYS’ VP of global services. “Our Automation Center of Excellence is built on those principles and we are proud of the success we have had across many sectors.” For more information, read the press release.
DOCLINE Celebrates 40 Millionth Request
The National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) announced that DOCLINE, the National Library of Medicine’s automated document delivery system, has processed 40 million requests as of May 3, 2017. The Community Health Network in Indiana entered the milestone request, and Franciscan Health Indianapolis’s health sciences library fulfilled it. DOCLINE caters to more than 2,100 libraries in the NNLM.For more information, read the blog post.
