SirsiDynix Integrates ODILO Content
SirsiDynix announced that its eResource Central (eRC) digital content management tool went live with the ODILO connector, making ODILO’s more than 1 million ebook, e-audiobook, and e-video titles in English, Spanish, and other languages available via eRC. NFAIS Announces 2016 Humanities Roundtable
The National Federation of Advanced Information Services (NFAIS) will host its 2016 Humanities Roundtable on Sept. 23 in Atlanta. Those unable to attend in person can participate online from any location. This year’s theme is Digital Humanities: Preserving the Past, Capturing the Present & Building the Future. Topics will include the research habits of humanities scholars around the world, how scholarly communications support the digital humanities field, and the legal issues affecting the digital humanities field.For more information, read the press release.
OpenText Acquires Dell EMC's Enterprise Content Division
OpenText signed a definitive agreement to purchase Dell EMC’s Enterprise Content Division (ECD), which includes enterprise content management products Documentum, InfoArchive, and LEAP, for $1.62 billion. ECD’s software, associated services, and employees will be integrated into OpenText to deepen its enterprise information management portfolio. Additionally, OpenText and Dell EMC will enter into a commercial partnership to expand their offerings and better support customers.For more information, read the press release.
IMF Recommits to PubFactory's Hosting Platform
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) renewed its partnership with PubFactory to keep powering IMF’s eLibrary platform through 2019. PubFactory has hosted IMF’s content since 2010, although its eLibrary has titles dating to 1946. “In addressing this, the IMF has recommitted to the PubFactory platform based on a track record of collaborative service over the past 6 years and the flexibility PubFactory provides in allowing us to build custom features and tools on top of the standardized platform application, with the goal of making our content discoverable, accessible, and portable for our users,” says Jeremy Clift, IMF’s publisher.For more information, read the press release.
Open Library Foundation Supports Open Source Options for Libraries
The Open Library Foundation had its official launch. This organization will “promote open source projects for libraries and to foster and support contribution, distribution, and sustainability of the benefits of these projects,” according to FOLIO, a recently established community for developing an open source library services platform. As part of the foundation, librarians, developers, designers, service providers, and vendors will work with open source technologies to create new options for library services.For more information, read the blog post.
Kudos Partners With Jisc Collections and Expands Pricing Options
Kudos entered into a partnership with Jisc Collections to offer a standard agreement for all universities in the U.K. that simplifies the acquisition process for content and improves the pricing for U.K. customers. Additionally, Kudos introduced tiered pricing for its global institutional customers to allow more institutions with varying ranges of research intensity to access Kudos’ services.For more information, read the blog post.
Additional Countries Join Google Patents
Google Patents added 11 countries to its program that bring with them more than 41 million new patent publications, making the total offering more than 87 million publications from 17 global patent offices. The countries joining include Japan, the U.K., Spain, France, and Denmark. The new content was translated into English using Google Translate. Linex Systems Becomes Vable
Linex Systems has rebranded as Vable. The content automation solutions company raised $1 million this year and is now looking toward future innovation and growth. It increased its investment in technology and talent to enhance its product development strategy. “The new branding reflects our aim of enabling and empowering our clients to play a key role in the development of their organisations. The new Vable ‘V’ represents the filtering of multiple layers of information, bringing them into one easy to access place. SirsiDynix Customers Gain Integrated ILL Solutions
SirsiDynix joined forces with Relais International, Inc. to leverage Relais’ interlibrary loan (ILL) services for SirsiDynix’s BLUEcloud LSP customers. These customers will be able to integrate ILL solutions, such as end-user discovery and delivery options and request management, directly into SirsiDynix Enterprise, BLUEcloud’s discovery interface.For more information, read the press release.
Cambridge University Press Moves Books and Journals to New Platform
Cambridge University Press introduced Cambridge Core, its new academic platform of more than 30,000 books and 360 journals. It replaces the publisher’s old platforms Cambridge Journals Online, Cambridge Books Online, Cambridge Companions Online, and Cambridge Histories Online, which are now no longer accessible.For more information, read the blog post.
