Taylor & Francis Group Selects DataSalon for Customer Analysis and Reporting
Taylor & Francis Group adopted DataSalon’s cloud-based MasterVision service to handle its customer reporting on journal subscriptions, usage, and denials activity. Taylor & Francis Group will be able to access an interface for searching, analyzing, and exporting customer data, as well as view reports on how customers engage with products, packages, and collections. MasterVision calculates each customer’s cost-per-download score in order to predict usage and denials patterns.“MasterVision has transformed the way we interact with customer data: both drastically reducing the time taken to retrieve data and do complex analyses, and allowing staff to better understand and respond to the needs of our global customer base,” according to Jo Cross, head of research and business intelligence at Taylor & Francis Group. SirsiDynix Updates Its BLUEcloud Suite and Increases Patrons' Shopping Options
SirsiDynix released a new module for its BLUEcloud Suite LSP: BLUEcloud Cataloging, which is designed to accommodate new media and technology, increase staff efficiency, and streamline the process of enhancing bibliographic data. The company will add features as it receives feedback on this new module. BLUEcloud Cataloging comes free with the BLUEcloud Suite LSP and as part of a library’s regular ILS maintenance.In other news, SirsiDynix introduced a Buy It Now feature for its Horizon Information Portal (HIP) and e-Library users that enables patrons to purchase books, movies, and other products from outside retailers via the library’s website or OPAC. When patrons choose the Buy It Now option from their search results, they are redirected to a library-branded storefront to find the items from e-retailers such as Amazon. This feature, part of SirsiDynix’s Community Funded Services, gives a portion of each Buy It Now purchase to the library. Buy It Now comes with no minimum requirements for HIP users and a minimum requirement of SP3 for e-Library users. It has no extra fees or costs associated with it. Source: SirsiDynix
Thomson Reuters Adds Korean Content to Web of Science
The Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters integrated Korea Citation Index (KCI) content from South Korea’s National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) into its Web of Science discovery platform. This partnership advances the country’s position as an emerging scientific research center by making the KCI content available in the Web of Science as the KCI Korean Journal Database. This dataset connects to indexes in the Web of Science so that researchers around the world can review and analyze the South Korean content along with other international literature.“Most universities and research institutions in South Korea rely on the KCI when evaluating their researchers and scholarly works,” says Chung Min Keun, the NRF’s president. “Despite their outstanding quality, Korean journals are not known outside this region and are mostly published by local academic societies. By collaborating with Thomson Reuters, known for its rigorous journal selection criteria for Web of Science, we hope to increase the global impact of Korean research and international exposure of Korean journals, and encourage more scholarly exchange between South Korea and the rest of the world.” Source: Thomson Reuters

WriteLaTeX Integrates Mendeley Bibliographies
Mendeley joined forces with writeLaTeX, a free service for creating, editing, and sharing scientific ideas online. Now users of these tools can import their reference libraries directly from Mendeley into writeLaTeX to manage their references and citations—allowing them to “cite as they write.”With the completion of a 2-month integration process, authors with extensive Mendeley libraries can now more easily use these sources when writing scientific works on writeLaTeX. The service has more than 1.5 million projects from authors in 180-plus countries, while Mendeley has more than 3 million global users. “Keeping science open has always been part of Mendeley’s mission. Our API opens the Mendeley platform for developers to create and build tools to make researchers’ lives easier. The real value in an API is having clients, like WriteLaTeX, consume it and build something new and exciting,” says Joyce Stack, API developer outreach at Mendeley. Source: writeLaTeX
New Resource Explains Challenges and Opportunities for Information Governance
The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) published a resource on the challenges and opportunities for global internet policy and governance. This “briefing book” was created to support the Global Commission on Internet Governance, a 2-year initiative from CIGI and Chatham House that “will produce a comprehensive stand on the future of multi-stakeholder Internet governance,” according to the press release.Finding Common Ground: Challenges and Opportunities in Internet Governance and Internet-Related Policy is available for free on CIGI’s website. It describes the key issues involved in information governance, including managing systemic risk (e.g., cybercrime and surveillance), preservation innovation (internet access, economic development, and critical internet resources, etc.), and ensuring rights online (such as privacy and freedom of expression).
