Pew Research Center Looks at Where We Are Now

NewsBreaks often covers recent surveys and reports from Pew Research Center, "a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping the world." Its website has 12 topic sections, each showcasing the latest research, which is collected in reports, fact sheets, or other formats that extrapolate respondents' answers to cover the entire U.S. (or other) population. Google Now Flags Search Results That Are 'Changing Quickly'

Danny Sullivan, Google's public liaison for search, writes the following for Google's The Keyword blog: "[W]e've trained our systems to detect when a topic is rapidly evolving and a range of sources hasn't yet weighed in. We'll now show a notice indicating that it may be best to check back later when more information from a wider range of sources might be available."

Carnegie Mellon University Libraries Introduces an Oral History Podcast

Carnegie Mellon University's (CMU) libraries launched the first season of the weekly Cut Pathways podcast, which was developed by CMU's Oral History Program and draw on its archives. Program director and university archivist Katherine Barbera and production assistant David Bernabo will share hosting duties for the three-episode season, which begins on June 29.

BiblioCommons Brings the BiblioEmail Tool Into Its CMS
|
|
BiblioCommons has integrated its BiblioEmail marketing tool into BiblioWeb, its CMS and webpage builder for public libraries. Using BiblioWeb, library staffers can make one piece of content for promotion across multiple webpages; BiblioEmail also has this capability, intelligently pulling content into email campaigns and newsletter templates that can be customized based on patron needs.
