We are excited to announce Computers in Libraries & Internet Librarian Connect 2020, a weeklong virtual event that will run Sept. 21-25. Program, registration, and sponsorship information will be available soon.

After 34 years of hosting a successful annual event, our 35th Computers in Libraries is going virtual, along with Internet Librarian. We have combined our planned programs around the themes Generation Next: Preparing for New Technologies and Futurizing: People, Technology & Communities, which focus on exciting library programs and services that have taken place and that are being planned for the future by using new technology and building community partnerships. We will also celebrate the 40th anniversary of Computers in Libraries magazine.

Underline Science Brings Conferences Into the Streaming Era
by Dave Shumaker
Underline Science is a new venture that aims to change the way scholarly conferences are presented and experienced. Although it wasn't planned this way, the platform could not have debuted at a more auspicious time, having rolled out to the public just before the pandemic-driven bans on travel earlier this year. Underline Science may be a timely new way to sustain and even enhance scholarly communication, especially now that scholars are doing less traveling and conference organizers are faced with excruciating decisions about whether to cancel events.

Calls for Equity and Diversity at ALA Virtual
by Brandi Scardilli
The ALA Annual Conference is such a massive event that I was skeptical an online version could convey all of its aspects properly. Despite a few technical hiccups in the beginning, I think the organization succeeded admirably with ALA Virtual, held June 24-26.
