There are so many blogs about librarianship that it would be difficult to follow them all. Everyone has his or her favorites, of course, but NewsBreaks is highlighting some you may not have heard of in the hopes you'll find it worthwhile to hear their perspectives. If you already know about these passionate authorial librarians, read on for some insight into why they started their blogs and what advice they'd give to those thinking about blogging. 60 Minutes Archive Comes to Alexander Street Press
|

Alexander Street Press and CBS News announced the creation of 60 MINUTES: 1997-2014, an online database of content from 60 Minutes that will be released in March 2015. The collection, which is exclusive to Alexander Street Press, offers unprecedented access to 350 hours of high-definition video constituting 17 years of episodes, as well as 175 hours of bonus material from CBS News' Sunday Morning.

Knight Foundation Seeds 22 Innovative Library Projects

In September 2014, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation (KF) opened a new round of its Knight News Challenge with the question, "How might we leverage libraries as a platform to build more knowledgeable communities?" ... [T]he foundation winnowed the 676 entries down to the winning eight projects--and gave an additional 14 projects Knight Prototype Fund awards to allow them to continue to develop their ideas.
