TLC and Quipu Group Enhance Patron Registration Services

The Library Corp. (TLC) and Quipu Group teamed up so that libraries can use updated CARL•X web service APIs to implement Quipu Group's eCARD patron registration and verification system. eCARD grants or blocks registration based on patrons' address data and offers a self-service patron registration interface.

3M Cloud Library App Introduces E-Audiobooks

3M Cloud Library has updated its patron app to include e-audiobooks. It features 40,000 titles from all of the major audiobook publishers (powered by Findaway World). The 3M Cloud Library app was optimized for e-audiobook discovery, checkout, and listening. For example, bookmarks allow users to listen to their titles across a range of devices that support the app.

Zepheira Teaches Libraries About Linked Data and BIBFRAME

Zepheira developed an online training program, Linked Data and BIBFRAME for Libraries, which is focused on the applied use of those vocabularies. The program lasts 4-5 weeks and is typically offered twice per month via Zepheira's learning management environment.

FOIA Reform Gets Key Senate Endorsement

The current lame-duck congressional session may end up producing an overdue and substantial reform of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), if recent actions in the U.S. Senate are any indication. On Nov. 20, the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary approved an amended version of the FOIA Improvement Act of 2014 (Senate Bill 2520), which is now poised to go before the full Senate in December.
