Why AI Conversancy Matters More for Librarians Than AI Literacy

"'AI literacy' is the wrong answer to the right question," begins R. David Lankes, professor of librarianship at the University of Texas, in this clip from his keynote at Internet Librarian 2025. by Brandi Scardilli
Hoopla Digital, one of the major econtent-lending platforms for libraries, reached out to ITI NewsBreaks to discuss its approach to helping physical libraries navigate the digital world. NewsBreaks has covered Hoopla quite a bit in 2025, especially because it is regularly creating new BingePasses that can help libraries afford its content, so I decided it was important to do a year-end check-in with the company.
