The impact of AI in general and generative AI in particular creates a great deal of uncertainty for the future of work, be it political uncertainty, economic uncertainty, social uncertainty, or technological uncertainty. Daniel Rasmus, founder and principal analyst of Serious Insights, has been researching how these impacts specifically affect librarians, with emphasis on access to information and necessary and emerging technology, analytics, AI’s evolving role, and more. He discusses a number of these areas of inquiry and his initial findings in this clip from his presentation at Internet Librarian Connect 2023.

The AI Tech on Display at the National Retail Federation's 2024 Show

I might have missed the National Retail Federation event, NRF '24: Retail's Big Show, in New York altogether if it had not been for a public relations person who noticed some of my work writing about artificial intelligence (AI). She asked if I was attending and suggested I speak with the founder of PhotoRoom, an AI-based graphics program. With days to spare, I was able to secure a press pass and show up at the Javits Center on Jan. 15.
