The Latest Pew Research Center Reports From 2022 and 2023

NewsBreaks often covers recent surveys and reports from Pew Research Center, "a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping the world." Its website has 12 main topic sections, each showcasing the latest research, which is collected in reports, fact sheets, or other formats that extrapolate respondents' answers to cover the entire U.S. (or other) population. There is a summary page that includes the methodology for how the information was collected and a link to download and read the full report.

Kanopy Marks Women's History Month
Kanopy posted about Women's History Month, stating the following: "For Women's History Month 2023, Kanopy's programming team has carefully selected titles aimed toward educating on the many essential milestones in women's history, from groundbreaking feminist icons, the Suffrage Movement, and the impact that gender bias and discrimination has, not only on women, but society as a whole."
Museum Leaders Met in Washington, D.C., to Discuss Pandemic Lessons
Crosby Kemper, IMLS's director, and Tsione Wolde-Michael, executive director of the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities (PCAH), convened the first meeting of museum leaders since the pandemic began. It was held March 2–3 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

An Interview With Safiya Umoja Noble, 2023 Miles Conrad Lecturer

Safiya Umoja Noble received the 2023 Miles Conrad Award from the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) and delivered the annual Miles Conrad Memorial Lecture at the recently held NISO Plus conference.

Her lecture, "Decolonizing Standards: A Provocation," included a review of her work and a call, or "provocation," for the information science field to remake information and knowledge services for greater equity and access, focusing on the needs of communities being harmed by current systems and methods.

Dave Shumaker spoke with Noble shortly after her lecture, and this NewsBreak is an edited and abridged version of their conversation.
