W3C and IDPF Are in Talks to Combine
The World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) director, Tim Berners-Lee, and the International Digital Publishing Forum’s (IDPF) executive director, Bill McCoy, announced their mutual interest in combining the organizations as a way to more quickly advance publishing technologies on the Open Web Platform. W3C and IDPF have been collaborating for the past 3 years to work on identifying how publishing industry technologies and web technologies can complement and help improve each other. The next step in the process of combining is to solicit members’ comments and draft a Memorandum of Understanding.For more information, read the press release.
