University of California Organizations Partner for Publishing Workflow Management System

The University of California Press (UC Press) and the CDL (California Digital Library) received a $750,000 grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to create a web-based, open-source content and workflow management system for publishing open access (OA) humanities and social sciences monographs. The system will be available for use by academic publishers (e.g., university presses and library publishers) to manage the process from initial authoring and manuscript submission to final publication on the open web.

UC Press will use the system to support Luminos, its OA program, and CDL will use it to expand its current publishing services. The Mellon Foundation’s grant gives the organizations 2 years to complete the system.

For more information, read the press release.
