Thomson Reuters Rolls Out Pharmaceutical R&D Factbook
The Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters published the 2015 CMR International Pharmaceutical R&D Factbook, which shows global R&D trends for the biopharmaceutical industry—including the forecast that sales will reach $1.3 trillion by 2018. Additionally, it shows a positive shift in new molecular entities (NMEs) in 2014, with 46 launches; more than 65% of these were specialty drugs for the treatment of cancer, hepatitis C, and HIV. Anticancer development still attracts the highest amount of investments.Pharmaceutical companies around the world contribute to the creation of the factbook. Its goal is to assess productivity and provide insights so the companies can improve the planning and effectiveness of their R&D. For more information, read the press release.
