Thomson ISI Releases BIOSIS Previews 3.0

Thomson ISI has released BIOSIS Previews version 3.0. Enhancements include more relevant content, improved consistency, and the inclusion of more than nine million CAS Registry Number entries to the 1969—1992 data segment and the addition of more than 6,300 sequence data accession numbers.

In addition, every record within the database has been augmented with BIOSIS Major Concepts to improve search results; more complete taxonomic data; remapped Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) disease terms and Biosystematic Codes; and streamlined patent indexing to improve retrieval. Other improvements designed to make navigating the extensive subject indexing more intuitive include:

  • Search aids for Organism classifiers, Major Concepts, and Concept Codes
  • Individual search fields for each subject index
  • An updated design that includes tables in the full records

Available via ISI Web of Knowledge, BIOSIS Previews enables users to link directly to the full text of articles, cited references, times cited, and related records within Web of Science—the Web-based resource that enables users to search current and retrospective multidisciplinary information from approximately 8,700 scholarly journals. Users can also link directly to Proceedings and Current Contents Connect. For more information, visit http://www.thomsonisi.com/products/specialcontent/biosis.
