The Opportunity Project Gets New Tools and Support
The White House is expanding the Opportunity Project, which President Barack Obama launched in March 2016 to facilitate the creation of tools that will leverage the expertise of technologists, local governments, and community leaders who are using open data to expand the public’s access to digital information about affordable housing, quality schools, jobs, and more.It features 29 new digital tools from companies, nonprofit organizations, and students that use federal and local data to address information needs identified by several government agencies. The Department of Commerce has agreed to lead the Opportunity Project, the Department of Education is offering Civil Rights Data Collection APIs, and the Department of Labor is offering an OpenSkills API.
