The Library of Congress Gets One Step Closer to Its Remodel

The Library of Congress is getting a new look: The Dwight D. Opperman Foundation is donating $1 million to “reimagine and enhance” its visitors’ experience, featuring a new orientation gallery in the Thomas Jefferson Building, exhibitions, and a learning lab. The renovation is part of a multiyear plan to bring forward more of the library’s collections into public spaces and help visitors connect the materials to their own creativity and research. The Opperman gift is in addition to other gifts from earlier in 2020, as well as appropriation from Congress, that will help the library realize this plan.
