The Latest News From Sage
Sage announced on Nov. 2 that it acquired IOS Press, “an independent publisher founded in Amsterdam in 1987 that specializes in health, life, and computer sciences. With this move, Sage acquires nearly 100 journals and a frontlist of 70 plus books each year covering subjects such as neuroscience, medical informatics, cancer research, artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and the semantic web. … The acquisition marks significant growth in Sage’s open access (OA) program with the addition of more than 20 fully OA journals. It also expands core subject areas for Sage, such as psychology and engineering, and marks an investment in new areas such as AI and image processing.”On Nov. 6, Sage announced a publishing partnership and the release of a new report. “Sage has become the new journal publishing partner of the Fundación Infancia y Aprendizaje (FIA). The partnership, which will begin in January 2024, replaces Taylor & Francis (T&F) as the official publishing partner,” a press release states. “FIA Journals originally emerged as a significant platform for Spanish content dedicated to psychology and developmental studies, attracting readership across Spain and most parts of Latin America. In 2014, all FIA Journals started publishing in English as well as Spanish. Today, they publish content from authors hailing from all over the world, and they reach readers from institutions worldwide.” Technology From Sage published its third Librarian Futures report. A press release states, “The report, developed with the input of over 2,000 global academic library professionals, examines the emerging skills required to fulfill a library’s mission and meet the needs of today’s library patrons. The data was analyzed by Skilltype, in which Technology from Sage invested earlier this year.”
