The British Library and the BnF Will Digitize Illuminated Manuscripts

The British Library and the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) are working to digitize 800 illuminated manuscripts that were produced in Europe from 700 to 1200. During this period, scribes were able to move among England, France, and Normandy and wrote in Latin and French. The manuscript collections will be freely available via two websites starting in November 2018. There will be a bilingual site that will facilitate side-by-side comparison of 400 manuscripts from each of the collections.

For more information, read the press release.
