TechBooks IPG Converts ASIDIC Newsletter Legacy File

TechBooks, a provider of global publishing technology, and ASIDIC, a professional information industry association, have announced the completion of a project to digitize the entire collection of back issues of the ASIDIC Newsletter for mounting on the ASIDIC Web site. The conversion project was undertaken by the Information Publishing Group at TechBooks, which converted the legacy file from paper to PDF and fully-searchable XML text. TechBooks IPG donated the time and facilities necessary to complete the project at no cost to ASIDIC.

Donald T. Hawkins, ASIDIC secretariat and editor of the ASIDIC Newsletter, expressed his thanks to TechBooks IPG: "ASIDIC is very grateful to TechBooks for its extremely generous offer to digitize and preserve this unique collection. It will provide a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history and development of the information industry."

Kevin Bouley, ASIDIC president, added: "TechBooks' generous assistance is typical of the collegial spirit of ASIDIC members, and is highly appreciated. Through their efforts, this important repository of information industry history soon will be accessible for the first time ever."

Iris L. Hanney, president of TechBooks IPG, responded: "As long-time members and supporters of ASIDIC, it was an easy decision to apply our data-conversion expertise to the preservation of the newsletter. The wealth of information that has been assembled over the years provides a fascinating history of the organization, as well as the information industry as a whole."
