Sponsoring Organizations Set Date for OpenCon

The second OpenCon will be Nov. 14–16, 2015, in Brussels. This conference exposes students and early-career academic professionals to topics in open access (OA), open education, and open data. Eleven organizations (including hosts SPARC and the Right to Research Coalition), announced the international event, which will help participants learn about issues, develop critical skills, and prepare actions toward a more open system for information sharing.

There will be 2 days of keynotes, panels, and workshops, with a third day of advocacy training and in-person meetings with policymakers throughout Brussels. Keynote speakers include Patrick Brown and Michael Eisen, two co-founders of PLOS (Public Library of Science).

Applications will open on June 1, and full travel scholarships will be provided for many applicants.
