Socialtext Releases SocialPoint Wiki Service
Socialtext, Inc. (http://www.socialtext.com) released its new enterprise wiki service SocialPoint, which integrates with Microsoft SharePoint. It is designed to help IT managers within large enterprises develop a collaborative platform to facilitate work and information sharing across teams.Socialtext developed SocialPoint using the Wiki Web Services (which the company released in Socialtext 2.0 earlier this month) and a collection of SharePoint Web Parts. Integrated with a SOAP API, SocialPoint enables SharePoint to authenticate to multiple wikis and display recent changes and pages within the portal while offering them up for editing. For example, with SocialPoint, a marketing team working on a product launch can collaborate on product marketing materials within the wiki, and then share those materials with field contacts who link to the SharePoint portal so the field is informed about the launch. SocialPoint is available immediately and included within Socialtext Professional and Socialtext Enterprise. In addition, SocialPoint will be released under an open source license in the near future. For more information, visit http://www.socialtext.com/products/pricing. Socialtext also announced incentives for JotSpot wiki customers to migrate to the Socialtext service. Source: Socialtext, Inc.
