ProQuest Gains Texas Newspaper Archive

ProQuest added the digital archive of the daily Austin American-Statesman newspaper to its ProQuest Historical Newspapers collection. Researchers now have access to primary sources about Texas and the Southwest from 1871 through the 1900s.

The newspaper covers the political, economic, cultural, and social landscape of the region. Its full-text, searchable content offers reporting on topics such as the development of Austin as a railroad hub and the founding of the University of Texas, as well as advertisements, obituaries, editorials, cartoons, etc.
