ProQuest CSA Adds Content to Illustrata and Illumina

The newly merged company, ProQuest CSA, has announced additional content for CSA Illustrata, its digital resource specifically dedicated to data presented in tables, figures, charts, illustrations, and their captions. ProQuest CSA and Elsevier have signed an agreement to make tables, figures, and illustrations from a selection of Elsevier’s natural science journals available through CSA Illustrata: Natural Sciences, which provides access to more than 1 million records from notable scholarly journals. Elsevier natural science journals, including Deep-Sea Research Part I, Earth and Planetary Science Letters, Toxicology, and Virology, will be cross-searchable with journals from other publishers, including Blackwell Publishing, Oxford University Press, and others.

CSA Illustrata is a Web-based solution (that runs on the CSA Illumina platform) providing access to indexed tables, figures, and other objects found in scholarly research literature. CSA Illustrata is designed to provide greater precision, efficiency, and relevance in researching graphical content. Forthcoming CSA Illustrata releases are planned in other key research areas. Additional information about CSA Illustrata as well as the concept and research behind deep indexing is available at http://info.csa.com/csaillustrata. Also see the NewsBreak at http://newsbreaks.infotoday.com/nbReader.asp?ArticleId=19054.

The CSA Illumina platform now includes Design Abstracts Retrospective/Design ProFILES (DAR/DP), a source for international coverage of diverse subjects in design and related fields.

Published by Design Research Publications, DAR/DP covers more than 100 journals and yearbooks published between the 1890s and the 1980s. The resource focuses on important titles that have not been indexed or abstracted before. Key topics include architecture, interior design, industrial design, furniture design, theatre design, graphic design, packaging, poster illustration, advertising, typography, calligraphy, photography, exhibition design, book design, fashion and textile design, embroidery, ceramics, glass art, jewelry, metalsmithing, mural painting and decoration, mosaics, and others . The database contains more than 80,000 records and is updated quarterly, with 15,000 records added per year. To learn more about DAR/DP, visit http://info.csa.com/dar.
