Peer Into the Future of Peer Review
BioMed Central and Digital Science released the report “What Might Peer Review Look Like in 2030?” to share ways the peer review process could improve for future generations of academics. According to the press release announcing the report, “[I]n order to affect real, industry-wide improvements to the peer review process, publishers, researchers, funders and institutions need to be willing to experiment with different models, encourage more diversity in the reviewer pool, utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) and support training and mentoring for peer reviewers.”The report also features information about the history of peer review, current issues such as sustainability and ethics, and future advances such as preprint servers and AI applications.
