OverDrive Starts a Publishing Imprint to Help Foster Childhood Literacy
OverDrive introduced Heights Press, “a boutique publishing imprint inspired by the vibrant creativity and community spirit of Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Rooted in OverDrive’s Cleveland home, Heights Press reflects the company’s deep mission to support schools and libraries in promoting literacy and a love of reading,” the press release states. The first publishing output is a six-ebook series for middle-grade readers called Hickory Hollow and a series of video shorts. The ebooks, which are told from multicultural perspectives, “are now available exclusively for public libraries and schools worldwide” for the Libby and Sora platforms—and the video shorts are available for Kanopy Kids—in five languages: English, Chinese, German, Vietnamese, and Korean. The video shorts don’t cost an additional fee, and the first ebook in the series is free, with the others available for purchase. OverDrive also plans to make audiobook versions available.
