OCLC Modernizes CONTENTdm to Facilitate Better Discovery of Digital Collections
OCLC redesigned its CONTENTdm digital collection management platform to offer “browser-based administration, bulk workflows, OCR, and metadata tools. These capabilities help staff reduce repetitive work and process more materials with existing resources,” the press release shares. “Built with OCLC’s digital collection management and metadata expertise, CONTENTdm helps institutions make unique collections available to broader audiences through improved discovery experiences, richer metadata, integrated exhibits, and standards-based sharing. Through WorldCat, linked data, metadata standards, and interoperability capabilities, CONTENTdm makes it possible for collections to reach users beyond an institution’s website and participate in the discovery environments where people often begin their searches.”The updated version is currently available to U.S. users, with international rollout coming soon.
