OCLC Adds Art History Resources to WorldCat

OCLC introduced the Art Discovery Group Catalogue to bring together information from global art libraries into a single, searchable database in WorldCat. WorldCat users can also search for art library items alongside additional online journals and databases.

artlibraries.net, an international, specialized meta catalog of about 13 million art history records, coordinated the project with OCLC as part of the Future of Art Bibliography (FAB) initiative.

Search limits include American Art Libraries, Australian Art Libraries, and Swiss Art Libraries. Advanced search features allow searching by date range, intended audience, content type, and more.

“The Art Discovery Group Catalogue is the best place to start for art-related content discovery,” says Geert-Jan Koot, head of the Rijksmuseum’s Research Library in Amsterdam. “Art historians want a unified, focused, and reliable service to provide comprehensive research findings and pinpoint discovery of individual items in the world’s leading art libraries.”
