Next-Generation Web of Science Goes Live
The Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters updated the Web of Science citation index with next-generation features. It now has an intuitive and user-friendly interface, expanded content, open access (OA) functionality, and open web accessibility (such as links to Google Scholar). The InCites research evaluation tool also received upgrades. The expanded content includes the addition of the SciELO Citation Index to Web of Science, covering Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and the Caribbean. The Chinese Science Citation Database is another new addition, as well as the Korean Journal Database, which joins Web of Science later this year. The addition of OA indicators on journal articles and the open web links are a “step toward simplifying the scientific search process for researchers who begin in an open environment,” according to the press release.
