NewsEdge Unveils New Products
NewsEdge Corp. (http://www.newsedge.com) has announced the release of NewsEdge Unplugged, a three-part wireless program for delivering syndicated content to hand-held devices. The NewsEdge wireless initiative includes Wireless Insight; a wireless content offering for mobile portals; and partnerships with wireless technology leaders, including AvantGo, Brience, and CMG Telecommunications. NewsEdge Unplugged delivers NewsEdge's customized, human-editor-refined, industry-specific business news content to hand-held devices and wireless portals.According to the company, NewsEdge is the only wireless content provider to deliver topic-specific, syndicated content prioritized by relevancy, eliminating duplicate stories and maximizing value by keeping characters to a minimum. NewsEdge Unplugged users are given the choice of receiving stories as headlines, briefs, or full text, and are also able to search the full text of any news story by keywords or ticker symbol. Wireless Insight users can now view NewsEdge Insight content on either their desktop or wireless device. The new product is available to NewsEdge Insight users at an additional charge to their existing NewsEdge licenses. NewsEdge also announced a new, outsourced editorial-syndication service for Web sites called NewsEdge NewsDesk. Rather than a once-a-day notification of news, NewsDesk provides frequent updates during the day with "near-time notification" of highly targeted information, including news about mergers and acquisitions, personnel changes, financial details, and other key business information. Pricing begins at $5,000 a year for access to six topics. Cliff Pollan, CEO of NewsEdge, said that the company's customers wanted a finished editorial service for their sites. "Syndicated, outsourced editorial services such as NewsEdge NewsDesk enable corporate Web sites to provide cost-effective, highly targeted, and editorially refined e-content services around the clock."
