NISO Studies Patron Privacy
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded NISO (National Information Standards Organization) a grant to develop the Consensus Framework to Support Patron Privacy in Digital Library and Information Systems. The grant will support a series of community discussions to encourage libraries, publishers, and information systems providers to build better privacy protection into their operations.NISO will create the framework document for addressing patron privacy in the library, and it will become a NISO Recommended Practice if approved. The project proceeds in three phases: pre-meeting discussions, the drafting of the framework document to detail privacy principles and recommendations, and circulation of the document for public comments and finalization. For more information, read the press release.
