NFAIS Taps AI Expert to Keynote Its Next Conference
The National Federation of Advanced Information Services (NFAIS) announced that Aaron Halfaker—a computer scientist who developed ORES (Objective Revision Evaluation Service), an AI product that grades the quality of Wikipedia edits—will be the closing keynote speaker at NFAIS’ May 15–16, 2019, conference, Artificial Intelligence: Finding Its Place in Research, Discovery and Scholarly Publishing.The event will explore the applications and implications of AI across all sectors of scholarship, and Halfaker will discuss “Wikipedia’s most pressing and strategically important research questions, as well as how he and Wikimedia’s research team of 6 people are utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to solve skewed representation, retain newcomers, and manage volunteer disputes.” For more information, read the press release.
