MPS Launches ScholarlyStats Service

MPS Technologies (http://www.mpstechnologies.com), part of the Macmillan group of companies, has launched the ScholarlyStats service. The new service is designed to take the pain out of the administration of usage statistics and provide librarians with more opportunities to analyze and understand usage within their institutions or corporations. Building on the work of the COUNTER project to create standards for vendor usage reporting, ScholarlyStats has been developed to give libraries the opportunity to outsource the collection and consolidation of these reports, which can take up many hours of library administrator time.

MPS developed ScholarlyStats with the help of more than 50 libraries during the beta phase in 2005. The journal and database reports are now being provided to the first ScholarlyStats customers through a user-friendly Web portal (https://www.scholarlystats.com) to provide a consolidated picture of use across platforms.

MPS announced that it has appointed Swets Information Services (http://www.swets.com) as the first Global Channel Partner for ScholarlyStats. MPS also said that collaboration with Thomson Scientific (http://www.scientific.thomson.com) will build links between ScholarlyStats and Thomson Scientific's forthcoming Journal Use Reports.
