LexisNexis Enhances Scholastic Universe
LexisNexis Academic & Library Solutions (formerly known as Congressional Information Service) has announced enhancements to LexisNexis Scholastic Universe, its Web service for secondary school students, teachers, and librarians. According to the announcement, changes include a more-than-400-percent increase in newspaper sources, simplified subscription options, and dramatically lower prices.LexisNexis Scholastic Universe now includes 190 additional U.S. regional newspaper sources, for a total of approximately 250. Along with new content, the subscription options are simplified, so subscribing schools now get all four content subjects—news, legal, legislative, and statistical—for one price. Finally, LexisNexis Scholastic Universe is more affordable for school libraries, with substantially lower prices than the previous version. LexisNexis Scholastic Universe is a member of the LexisNexis Universe product suite, and it provides access to specially selected sources that may include the LexisNexis flagship index and abstract access tools; online access to the full text of related government and nongovernment sources; or access to comprehensive news, business, and legal information. Toll-free, 24/7 customer support is provided for all librarian and faculty users of the Universe products. Secondary schools also may subscribe to two other LexisNexis Universe services: LexisNexis Current Issues Universe and LexisNexis History Universe. Additional information about each may be found at http://www.lexisnexis.com/academic. All three services offer both in-school and remote access for unlimited simultaneous users.
