Ingenta Launches New byDesign Service

Ingenta (http://www.ingenta.com) has announced byDesign, a relaunched service through which publishers can offer the functionality of IngentaConnect through their own Web sites. The company made its announcement at the recent Frankfurt Book Fair. Brill Academic Publishers (http://www.brill.nl) has already opted to add byDesign to the services currently supplied to them by Ingenta.

byDesign complements IngentaConnect's production, hosting, and delivery services by providing an entirely publisher-branded view onto IngentaConnect-hosted content, thus presenting clients with a publications Web site that precisely replicates their own brands and enables seamless full-text access and searching within their own environments. The new service further develops Ingenta's existing Web Integrated Solution product to include additional end-user features such as RSS feeds, branded e-mail alerting, various e-commerce options, and marked lists.

Speaking of the new package, Charlie Rapple, senior product manager at Ingenta, said, "Our Web Integrated Solution was a hugely popular product for publishers, and over the last year we have reviewed the existing service and identified areas where we could make it do more for both publishers and users. The core value of byDesign is in offering a fully-branded route to IngentaConnect content, so that the publisher is effectively getting their own publications Web site rather than a semi-branded halfway house—but at a fraction of the cost."
