IMLS Announces Big Data Competition
IMLS (Institute of Museum and Library Services) and 15 other national funding agencies from 11 countries in North America, South America, and Europe launched the fourth round of the Digging Into Data Challenge. This competition “has provided nearly $12 million in funding for international research projects that use ‘big data’ sources and methodologies to address questions in the social sciences and humanities.”Teams creating the projects for the challenge must consist of representatives from at least three member countries that are on both sides of the Atlantic. Projects should address a research question in the humanities and/or social sciences fields and use large-scale digital data analysis techniques to form new insights. Final applications are due June 29, 2016. For more information, read the press release.
