H.W. Wilson Upgrades WilsonWeb
H.W. Wilson (http://www.hwwilson.com) introduced its upgraded WilsonWeb 2.4 service. Enhancements include persistent URLs for records, highlighted search terms, and some searching enhancements. The changes were made in response to suggestions from librarians and subscribers.Full-text databases on earlier versions of WilsonWeb automatically searched the complete text of articles for search terms. Now users can set this option to suit their needs. The new default is to search only article titles, abstracts, subject headings, and other important bibliographic fields. The new Basic Search recognizes and executes Boolean operators automatically, and it returns results sorted by relevance. Wilson also upgraded its hardware, including adding 20 percent more server capacity, strengthening processing power, increasing capacity and redundancy, and offering end-to-end response time monitoring.
