GSA Awards Contract for FirstGov’s New Search Engine
The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has announced the awarding of a contract to AT&T Business Services for the new FirstGov.gov search engine. AT&T will use the FAST Search & Transfer search engine to search over 51 million pages of federal and state government information. The contract is for a period of 1 year plus four 1-year options to renew. The value of the contract is approximately $2 million a year. This contract was the result of a full and open competition. For the past 18 months, the Federal Search Foundation has provided the search engine at no cost to the federal government. The existing search engine will remain in place until March 31, 2002. A full NewsBreak about this will be posted on March 18.Source: U.S. General Services Administration
