FAST, Lycos Offer Co-Branded Service
Fast Search & Transfer (FAST), a developer of search and real-time alert technologies, has announced the launch of FAST PartnerSite, an integrated search-engine-submission and hosted-site search service for Web sites. FAST and Terra Lycos have also announced that Lycos will be the first portal distributor in the U.S. to offer FAST PartnerSite via the new co-branded Lycos InSite service (http://search.lycos.com/searchservices). FAST has chosen not to market PartnerSite directly but to rely on channel partners.Lycos InSite consists of two service options. Lycos InSite Select lets Web site owners submit their sites to Lycos for guaranteed inclusion in the Lycos (FAST) Web index within 48 hours. The cost starts at $30 a year ($18 membership plus $12 per URL). Lycos InSite Pro offers both paid inclusion and hosted site search, giving Web site owners access to Lycos' search functionality within their sites. The cost is $189 per month for up to 250 Web pages; $279 per month for 251 to 500 pages. Powered by FAST, Lycos InSite differentiates itself from other paid search services by listing only the most relevant results first, according to the announcement. Since Lycos InSite guarantees inclusion and not placement or rankings, search result relevancy is not compromised. The service also guarantees that FAST's crawler will re-index Lycos InSite results every 48 hours, thus ensuring that the freshest content is available for Web and site searches.
