EveryLibrary Sponsors Campaign to Get Library Workers and Supporters to Run for Office

EveryLibrary announced the following:

A new national campaign, “Read. Lead. RUN!”, is launching today to inspire library workers, library supporters, and readers across the United States to step forward and run for public office. The campaign is built around a simple but urgent idea: the people who value knowledge, literacy, and access to information should help shape the policies that govern them.

At a time when nearly 70 percent of elected offices in the United States go unopposed, Read. Lead. RUN! is calling on everyday community leaders to fill the gap and bring new voices to the ballot. The campaign, sponsored by EveryLibrary, encourages individuals who believe in libraries, education, and the right to read to consider running for local, state, and federal positions.
